The National Microbiology Laboratory in Winnipeg, Manitoba, is Canada’s only Level 4 lab. It had connections with the Wuhan Institute of Virology before the pandemic, and this is not news. But what is new is the Winnipeg lab may have something to do with COVID-19. Samples from early Wuhan coronavirus patients show the presence of genetically modified Henipah virus. And the Henipah virus was one of the two types of viruses the NML sent to the Wuhan lab in March 2019.
