20210829 Relationship Hierarchy - The Daily Summation

When you were little, thee was SOMEONE who made sure you survived (ant it's to be HOPED, THRIVED).

Though you didn't view that person (or more likely THOSE PEOPLE) as being the most important folks in the World to you, at that time (probably from birth, to your fifth or sixth birthday, they BELONGED on the VERY TOP of your "relationship hierarchy."

As you got older, the person or persons holding that top spot changed (maybe NOT when you were five or six, maybe some before, maybe a GOOD DEAL later.

Here's the thing. If you were LIKE ME, you probably REALLY NEVER CONSIDERED that hierarchy of relationships until you were MUCH older (if at all).

It doesn't occur to a BUNCH of folks (some EVER), just how important certain people ARE and MUST BE.

They don't think about who CAN AND SHOULD occupy the top spots in that pecking order.

For most, it moves from parents to significant other, probably to children.

And from there, to a sort of balancing act between a group of folks.

It also goes from a dependency relationship, to one in which others are often COUNTING ON YOU.

Notice, I didn't really throw teachers or friends in the mix (they CAN be up at the top, but they're pretty often quite lower on the list).

I believe one of many reasons we're seeing SO VERY MANY spousal and parental CATASTROPHIC FAILURES, is that people are placing others at the top of their proverbial heaps who DON'T AND SHOULDN'T BELONG THERE.

That's what brought me to the subject of Relationship Hierarchy on today's edition of The Daily Summation from Kurt's Religion and Politics.

When I'm able to complete the companion article on the Kurt's Religion and Politics blog, I'll post a link to it here.
