We're All Sebastião Rodrigues | Silence By Martin Scorsese

Silence (2016), an adaptation of Shusaku Endo’s Novel, was Martin Scorsese’s third religious film, and in my option, it’s one of his best. In this video essay, using ideas by thinkers such as Slavoj Žižek, Jordan Peterson, John Vervaeke, Albert Camus, Carl Jung and Søren Kierkegaard, I try to demonstrate how the religious matters—questions of “Ultimate Concern”, as Paul Tillich would say—are an eminently real part of our lives and not just for ancient people.
