Mature aged men are falling to pieces! What on Earth is happening?

The starting point of my extended video series on the health of men 50 and over. We’ll look at the most common health issues faced by men over 50 and we’ll put into simple, actionable terms what we can do about it. Considering most of our health outcomes are ultimately under our own control, we’ll investigate what powerful lifestyle actions we can take to make a difference.

Now, in case you’ve been living under a rock, we mature aged men are in a bit of a bad way. We can highlight this by simply comparing men to women. It turns out that of the dozen or so leading causes of death, men lead women in all of them, with the exception of Alzheimer's disease.
Much of this has come about because, as men, our own health is usually not our main priority. We place great importance on feeling that we are living up to our roles with family, friends and in society in general. If we are fulfilling those roles, then we think we are basically ‘succeeding’ at life without taking notice of the changes in our own bodies and minds. Thing is, everything is typically not okay.

Even if we’re feeling reasonably healthy, or in fact, especially if we’re feeling reasonably healthy – or just ‘not sick’…. then we don’t spend enough time considering the gradually increasing risks to our health. This creeps upon us. Many of us don’t seriously, consciously and pro-actively ‘plan’ to stay healthy. By the time we hit our fifties, a lot of us are less fit, quite a bit heavier and already on a medication or two. These irritating and persistent facts are a sure-fire indication that things are going a bit wrong.
But let’s not panic yet. There is good news. If we begin to take proactive steps to lay the groundwork for a better health outlook and cultivate a lifestyle including positive practical choices, we are already moving toward a far more rewarding, energetic and resilient mature age life.

We'll cover weight gain, muscle, strength, bone, diabetes and high blood sugar, heart disease, stroke, arthritis, testosterone, cancer, erectile dysfunction, mental health, food, nutrition, vitamins, minerals, finance, security, alcohol, respiratory diseases and give a list of the 20 most important tips.
