Joseph Robinette Biden was born on November 20, 1942 in Pennsylvania’s Scranton. After moving to Delaware at around 10 years old, he worked as a lifeguard in his early days. This heightened his interest in politics. After studying at the University of Delaware and Syracuse University Law school, he successfully ran for the US Senate in 1972. He would go on to be a 6-term senator until 2009. After unsuccessfully running for Presidential nomination in 1988 and 2008, he joined Barack Obama as his running mate and was sworn in as the 47th Vice-President of the United States in 2009.
