The Makita 40-Volt XGT line has been impressive and we had some very high hopes for the power output of the XGT Rear Handle Circular Saw. As you will see in this video, the saw did not disappoint. In fact, the saw went much further than expected!

Makita is an engineering company that prides itself on purpose-built motors for each tool. This 40V XGT Brushless Rear Handle 7-1/4" Circular Saw has a Makita-built brushless motor that is smooth and quiet. The Rear Handle saw has a no load RPM of 6,400 RPM, a 90-degree depth of cut of 2-9/16", and a 53-degree bevel capacity with positive stops at 22.5-degrees and 45-degrees.

Beyond that, the saw is built well with a die-cast magnesium base. Makita advertises an Extreme Protection Technology (XPT) with this saw. That means the saw was built with a series of integrated seals designed to improve a tool's operation in harsh conditions by channeling water and dust from key internal components.

Makita XGT batteries are not backward compatible with Makita 18-volt batteries. This is a line of its own.
