Bible verses on Repentance

"Remember, then, what you received and heard. Keep it, and repent. If you will not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come against you." (Revelation 3:3)

It is about our hearts intent and our mind. Jesus did what we could not do ourselves. No one was sinless except Christ! When you truly believe in the Lord and are given the Holy Spirit, you will be grieved when you sin. We sin without realizing we are sinning against God at times as well. The priests in the old testament would sacrifice for sins done in ignorance. We too can repent for things we do unknowingly. “For I do not understand what I am doing; for I am not practicing what I want to do, but I do the very thing I hate.” (Romans 7:15) Allow the work of the Holy Spirit to bring you to Godly sorrow and repentance. It is that heart of wanting to be obedient to the Lord that is precious in the sight of God. The devil may try to keep you in guilt or feeling that you’re too far gone, but we know if we repent He is faithful and just to forgive us. The Lord disciplines those He loves - take the chastisement to learn and grow with the Lord.

We do what we can to stay away from sin and keep His commands. The Lord knows who has a true heart for Him. He died for us because of sin to make a way back to the Father. We should take sin serious. Though He knows we will never be perfect in this flesh- we keep turning back to the Lord. Godly remorse and regret of our sins, leads to true change- renewal of heart and mind and our actions will follow. He set us apart - NOT to walk with the world in its ways, but to walk with Him.

“And if your right hand is causing you to sin, cut it off and throw it away from you; for it is better for you to lose one of the parts of your body, than for your whole body to go into hell.”(Matthew 5:30)

“He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him.”(John 14:21)

“What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase? May it never be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it!”(Romans 6:1-2)
