Could You Hide One Pandemic Behind Another Pandemic?

Is it possible that there are two pandemics, raging simultaneously? If there was, how would you be able to tell? What if the two afflictions had similar symptoms? What if one of the Viruses came from a lab in the USA, and Fauci didn't want you to know about that one... Could Fauci hide a pandemic behind another one? How would you do that? Just to protect the team that developed it, or to protect the entire USAAMRID, or to protect himself?
