As great as a Shure sm57 is, it does not really capture the sound of a distorted guitar very well in my opinion, you must put in a lot of work layering guitar tracks to get that wall of guitar sound, or mix the sm57 with a ribbon mic.
The sm57 gets the body of the recording done and the ribbon captures the "Grit" of the distortion.
But if I had to compare e906 vs sm57, I would choose the e906 mic, alone it will capture the body of the guitar and the Grit of the distortion. with much less effort, and without needing to pair microphones.
