Purple Heart Day is dedicated to honoring service members who have made the ultimate sacrifice of giving their lives on the front lines. It also honors military personnel who have suffered a life-altering injury due to combat. Staff Sgt. Jessie Harrell, the Bravo Company gunnery sergeant with Headquarters and Support Battalion and a Purple Heart recipient, shares his story and how it effected him.
