500,000 Acre Fires is the “New Normal” ???!!!???

What? Did we hear that correctly? At today’s Butte County Board of Supervisors Meeting (8-10-21), fire chiefs told us that we need to accept that half a million acre fires will be the “new normal” for Butte County. With all the resources available and as much money they receive from tax payers, we can’t do better than this? Who is getting all the money? Are they actually campaigning for more $$$ and telling us what they’re NOT going to do in return for it instead of practical ways things can be improved? What dystopian hell is this?Show more

My friend and neighbor who is a retired federal forester and firefighter with over 30 years of experience just shared the following with me:

“These are very good articles pointing the blame of the demise of our forests on environmental groups. I can attest to that because I was involved in writing environmental documents to thin out the forest to reduce fuels, promote healthy tree density and forests and tried to replant and restore forest ecosystems. The environmental groups sued and took us to court so we could not implement what was needed to truly manage a forest.

Not only that, but when we do have a fire that burns through the forest, the environmental groups wouldn’t even let us log the dead and dying trees for most of the area. So the next time a fire comes through, there are more dead standing trees and dead trees that have fallen over contributing more dead fuels on the ground thus making the fire intensity and damage more severe than if we could have harvested those dead trees and removed the logs.”

Who are the judges and which courts are allowing environmentalists to do this? They all have blood on their hands. Where is all the money allocated to forest management and firefighters going? Why is every new normal involving utter devastation and loss of protection for Americans- especially in California?
