KEY POINT -- Hypocritical people are those who change their judgment standards in order not to drive away those whom their souls love. Many people are hypocritical with themselves; in other words, their soul loves itself so much that they judge themselves with a standard more lenient than the one they apply on others.

NATURAL DEFINITION: Hypocrite: a person who professes beliefs and opinions that he does not hold to

BIBLICAL DEFINITION: Under-judging" (i.e.- "hypo-crisy") is, in essence, the "art" of lowering your standards of judgment in order to favor those that your soul loves; this is the real meaning of the word "hypocrisy" in the Bible.

Grace Nuggets:
The word translated as "without hypocrisy" in verse 18 is the Greek word Anypokritos, which comes from the three Greek words:
***"Any", meaning "without",
***"Hypo", meaning "under", and
***"Kritos", meaning "judgment".

•The word anypokritos, therefore, literally says "without under-judging".
•"Under-judging" (i.e.- "hypo-crisy") is, in essence, the "art" of lowering your standards of judgment in order to favor those that your soul loves; this is the real meaning of the word "hypocrisy" in the Bible.

EXAMPLE - A "hypocritical" or "under-judging" teacher might, for example, give the students she likes an easier exam than the one given to the rest of the class.

A "hypocritical" or "under-judging" young lady might hate people who smoke and drink, but make an exception for the new boy in class, who is a smoker and a heavy drinker, but who is "oh, so cute!"

~the capacity to assess situations or circumstances shrewdly and to draw sound conclusions
~the cognitive process of reaching a decision or drawing conclusions

~the legal document stating the reasons for a judicial decision

17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.

1. Hypocrites Omit the Weightier Matters

Matthew 23:23
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone

2. Judging people on Behavior You still have

Matthew 7:5
Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye

3. Not allowing People to Enter the Kingdom- because you choose not to enter
Matthew 23:13
But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.

4. Full of Pretense, Long prayers for Show devouring widows houses
Matthew 23:14
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.

5. Making a Proselyte Twice the Child of Hell you are
Matthew 23:15
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.

6. Honoring Him with their Mouth and Heart is far from Him

Mark 7:6
He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.
Proselyte: a new convert; especially a gentile converted to Judaism

Grace Nugget:
That is why we are not to Run to leadership if we have not been called- for even to teach in error is Hypocrisy.

7. Hypocrites tend to look clean, sweet and innocent on the outside. Have more issues with those who speak the TRUTH boldly but in love- and live it.

So are the paths of all that forget God; and the hypocrite's hope shall perish:

Hypocrite Will Not Come Before Him

He also shall be my salvation: for an hypocrite shall not come before him.

A Hypocrite’s Joy will only be for a Moment

That the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment
