The comedian guest hosts tonight’s  Jimmy Kimmel Live!.
It’s year two of Jimmy Kimmel taking a summer hiatus.
It’s also year two of ABC asking Spade to fill in as part of a rotating cast of guest hosts.
Even in less than ideal circumstances, Spade’s performance was top-notch and ranked among the best of a group of talented actors, musicians, comedians, and actors who subbed in for Kimmel.

Spade’s return to late-night TV came not long after it was announced Comedy Central wasn’t renewing  Lights Out with David Spade.
But the comedian reminded everyone there are few people better at skewering pop culture and celebrities, no matter what channel he’s on.

It’s fitting that Spade takes over  Kimmel  on the same night  The Bachelorette  wraps up season 17.
