Commercial Trucks and Your Car Do Not Stop the Same

It takes much longer for a large commercial truck to stop than a passenger vehicle. This video shows why you should never cut in front of a truck.
A fully loaded transport truck travelling at 65 km/h (40 mph) takes 36 per cent longer to brake and stop than a passenger car travelling at the same speed. A fully loaded transport truck travelling at 105 km/h (65 mph) takes 66 percent longer to brake and stop than a passenger car travelling at the same speed.
By cutting in front of a large truck, you’re taking away the extra braking room that the driver will need if he or she has to make a sudden stop.
When passing a large truck, don’t merge too soon. Make sure you can see both the truck’s headlights in your rear view mirror before merging.
