The U.S. Coast Guard commissioned the USCGC Glen Harris (WPC 1144) 154-foot Sentinel-class fast response cutter on Aug. 6, 2021, at Sector Ft. Macon in Atlantic Beach, North Carolina. The cutter's namesake is Chief Petty Officer Glen Livingston Harris, a native of North Carolina. He acted as a landing craft coxswain during the landing of Tulagi, which took place Aug. 7 to 9, 1942, during World War II. Ms. Stacey Howley, the grandaughter of Harris, is the ship's sponsor. Vice Commandant Linda Fagan presided over the ceremony. (U.S. Coast Guard video by Senior Chief Petty Officer Sara Muir).
