Take Up Your Cross: What does this mean?

In Luke 9:23 Jesus said, "And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me." Some have erroneously applied this statement to "grinning and bearing" sickness, death, and tragedy. In this study we will do a thorough examination of the Lord's statement and show that it’s origins are not found in Scripture but on false man-made ideas.
