If I were to tell you, I believe you're guilty of some heinous crime (say, murder), would you count it acceptable for the populace at large, to decide you should be strung up from a tree with NO TRIAL OR OTHER PROCEEDING?

I certainly hope you answered that question with a heartfelt, "NO!"

The CORNERSTONE of American criminal jurisprudence is, "Guilty until proven innocent." Right?

No? That's NOT how it works? You're correct, it's not!

That should be, "Innocent until proven guilty."

That's how we do things here.

That's not just something that should apply to the courtroom.

Assuming a supposedly "credible witness" MUST be believed, because they say someone did or said something is NOT how you should operate.

This is what made me feel the need to create the current edition of The Daily Summation from Kurt's Religion and Politics.
