Survive the Hunt 30 - 3 Way Fan Edit (Failrace GTA5 Challenge)

The Object of Survive the Hunt is for Alex to sneak into Los Santos and find a car. As FailRace and the Hunters all start in the docs, they know what car he has at first. Once a car has been chosen, Alex tries to blend in and look like every other AI car while trying to accomplish some objectives. When the hunters find him, a chase ensues.

For nearly two years, the fans of FailRace only had Alex's perspective. About a year ago, there was a follow up video called "Discussing Survive the Hunt" where Alex would take about certain aspects of the last episode and sometimes give the hunter audio. A few months ago, Longbow started to release the Hunter Perspective videos on his YouTube channel (oddly enough called LongbowX - Failrace Staff). Some fans of FailRace started to leave comments about a side-by-side edit, but no one tried. With Survive the Hunter 30, Dangerman (YouTube channel name Dangerman8000) released the blimp footage with his recording of the Filming Crew audio. Now there were more chants for a 3-way edit.

After a practice run with GTA V racing videos from FailRace and Longbow, it is time to tackle the big one. Using videos from FailRace, LongbowX, and Dangerman8000, each with their own video quality and length, here is the first 3-way fan edit of Survive the Hunt. To have engine noise, most of the audio is from LongbowX, but more than once there is a long edit in that video, so the quieter blimp audio is used for those cases.

The video sources were pulled from YouTube using the command line utility youtube-dl and the Firefox add-on YouTube Video and Audio Downloader. The best quality of each was used, with the blimp perspective video and audio being downloaded separately. Editing and aligned together in Final Cut Pro X on an iMac, the process took several hours. If the Survive the Hunt fan edit does well and gets the attention of Alex and the Filming Crew (hey Laddo, are you listening?), perhaps future edits will be from the RAW files these YouTube creators make and not simply downloaded after compression.
