Professor Gabriel Scally (Public Health University of Bristol) states - "We don't have that government infrastructure anymore at regional level, we don't have the health structure at regional level, the health bodies at local level, health authorities have been have greatly diminished, the public health teams have been have greatly diminished and the environmental health officer numbers have been diminished."

The public health grants to local councils have been cut by £871.6 million.
