When fruit ripens, it develops more sugar, which then breaks down through a process called fermentation. When this happens, gases are released. These gases would cause a proboscis monkey's stomach to swell up, which could cause death. Proboscis monkeys eat fruit from January to May, and then they eat leaves the rest of the year. They're known to eat over 55 different types of leaves, and they will also eat insects, seeds, and flowers.

Howler monkeys are the loudest land animal! Their calls can be heard up to three miles away. In addition to being very loud, howler monkeys also have a keen sense of smell.
