SMD DIY PRODUCTION CLOCK KIT WITH 280 0603 LEDS SOLDERED AND WORKING

This kit has an excellent PCB that really takes a lot of abuse. I must have replaced about 15 SMD 0603 LED's before I had them all working. They gave plenty of extras. If you want to try this kit beware that 0603 LEDs are only 1.6mm by 0.8mm in size and quite fragile.

I did this kit with only a magnifier lamp and a cheap soldering iron and a little non clean flux pen.

There are 9 IC's on the back of the board too.

It took me 5 days to do it all and I would say the 40, 16 and 8 dip SMD IC's were the easiest parts compared to the LED's. It took me only 2 hours to solder all the IC's. The black through hole part that seems to be a resistor is for sensing the temperature. (the small numbers on the right in Centigrade.)

The flicker you see is not easily visible to the naked eye but the camera captures the multiplexing action from 7 shift register IC's.

Stay tuned:)
