The sound of TAISYO KOTO 'Sing Me A Song Of Araby'

TAISYO KOTO is a kind of KOTO, Japanese classic musical instrument used in Samurai era, which you may have seen in Samurai or Ninja movies. The difference between Koto and Taisyo Koto is the player. Koto has been played by samurai family, mostly females, so that very expensive and very difficult to master, therefore no chance to play for ordinal people until the end of Shogun era. After 1889, started Meiji Emperor ruling, people gradually got familiar with it yet still too expensive to buy. Then Nisaburo Kawaguchi(Mr.) invented simplified KOTO and put on sale at September 9, 1912. Since it was easy to master and reasonable price, all of sudden many people started to play. That's the era of TAISYO Emperor so the instrument called TAISYO KOTO. The sound is somewhat naivete but very cheery and vigorous. So even now many songs those days played by TAISYO KOTO.
