Opening 17 year old home canned green beans and 18 year old tomato juice. cleaning out in-laws root cellar. Some of beans were not sealed. some were. I'm looking to salvage the jars. thought it would be interesting to video opening them.
DISCLAIMER: While I may taste the tomato juice or any green beans from a jar with a good seal after bringing it to a boil, this is NOT recommended. Please refer to the Ball Canning Manual or other sources extension offices etc for recommended longevity of home canned foods. The items in this video are obviously WAY WAY past any expiration date. I do not recommend anyone else try tasting items store beyond the recommended time frames.
