According to US military personnel, the strikes are only carried out to help the militant group in battles against the Islamic State.

Libya's warring parties have signed a "permanent ceasefire" deal, potentially ending a nearly decade-long conflict sparked by President Barack Obama's push to overthrow Libyan strongman Muammar al-Gaddafi in 2011, which has had disastrous consequences for the entire country since.
