Seabirds evolved to exploit different food resources that exist in the planet's oceans and seas, and in general, their physiology and behavior were shaped by their diet.
The plumage of most seabirds is less colorful than that of land, varying mainly in shades of black, white and grey.
Some species display colored feathers (such as some tropical birds and penguins), but most color in seabirds appears in the beak or feet.
