Your Tax Dollars, The Left's Agenda: Biden's American Radicalization Project Underway

Since 1976 federal law has used the Hyde Amendment to protect U.S. taxpayers from directly funding abortions. This law has held up throughout multiple court cases and Administrations. Now, the Hyde Amendment is in jeopardy of being repealed. President Biden and the Left are attempting to eliminate this protection for U.S. taxpayers and the U.S. House Appropriations subcommittee has now drafted a bill to begin this process.

ACLJ Director of Government Affairs Thann Bennett, who has broken down this issue in detail in a new article, explained how the Left in the U.S. House of Representatives is trying to strip away the Hyde Amendment:

"For the first time since 1976 . . . I would start by saying that this is an issue that pro-life, pro-choice, Republican, Democrat, and independent American voters pretty much agree with this. An overwhelming majority even on the pro-choice side don’t think their taxpayer dollars should be used to fund abortions in the United States of America. But . . . President Biden flip-flopped on the campaign trail after decades of being in favor of the Hyde Amendment which prohibits that direct funding. He flip-flopped, and last week in the House of Representatives the House Appropriations Committee essentially followed his cue. They have moved out an appropriation bill that would strip that protection from the bill. . . . Here’s what I think people have to understand – we have gotten to a place where we have gotten so radical in Washington, D.C. on the abortion issue that even a consensus issue like this one with the American people is not good enough for the pro-choice/pro-abortion crowd in Washington, D.C. They are moving to repeal that protection."

The Left has taken an issue that has been historically supported on both sides to a very controversial extreme. Following the announcement that the House Appropriations Committee advanced a spending bill without the Hyde Amendment, Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley tweeted:

"Abortion care is health care, and health care is a fundamental human right. Today, we are now closer than ever to passing federal budgets that eliminate the racist Hyde Amendment and affirm the dignity of all people. Grateful to the organizers who made this possible."

So now if you are against taxpayer-funded abortion, then you are against a “fundamental human right.” This is just another way to divide the American people.

Another way the Left is attempting to divide the American people is by using the humanitarian crisis that is happening in Cuba. Recently, Cubans have been protesting in an effort to voice their opposition to the failed authoritarian government and call for its reform.

ACLJ Senior Advisor for National Security and Foreign Policy and former Acting Director of National Intelligence Ric Grenell discusses in his new article about what is happening in Cuba and his reaction to the Biden Administration’s lackluster response to the protests:

"Look, I think that something has happened over the last couple of days. And when you talk about our reaction hasn’t been as good as it should’ve been, it really means that the U.S. government’s reaction hasn’t been very good. Because I’ve noticed something different when it comes to the people of the United States in that the issue of Cuba, freedom, anti-fascism, and anti-socialism has just become an issue for all of America – not just South Florida. From my lifetime, I’ve really seen this change. Usually when something happens in Cuba where the communist government cracks down on its people – this is largely a Miami issue, South Florida, or maybe a Florida politics issue. But what we’ve seen . . . is protests at our White House and in our major cities across America. I think the reason is that people are feeling like they are seeing the signs that the government, the media, and big tech here in the U.S. are beginning to collude against them. And that feels like early warning signs of socialism and fascism."

When asked about Cuba, President Biden responded:

"Communism is a failed system – a universally failed system. And I don’t see socialism as a very useful substitute. But that is another story. . . . Cuba is unfortunately a failed state and repressing their citizens. There are a number of things that we would consider doing to help the people of Cuba, but it would require a different circumstance or a guarantee that they would not be taken advantage of by the government."

It’s another story because his own party doesn’t agree with him. At the rate that President Biden has changed his entire view on the Hyde Amendment, it’s fair to say that he can be persuaded by his party and change his view on communism and socialism as well. How the Biden Administration responds to the protests play an important role in the future of Cuba. We need to be showing our support for the brave Cubans in the streets who are fighting for the basic right as human beings – freedom.

Today’s full Sekulow broadcast is complete with further analysis of the Hyde Amendment and the Biden Administration’s reaction to the people of Cuba protesting to demand freedom.
