Here's a deeper look into my latest digital art project, Butterfly Commando. This piece was ultimately inspired by a piece of music I wrote some years back by the same name. The music was a random thing I created on the fly using Garage Band but it conjured up images of killer butterfly men defending the world against, Oh I don't know, the Butterfly Effect?
In any case if you follow this series you will get an in depth look of the entire process from the moment I select the objects I want to recreate, to the tracing, colour filling and finally, hopefully the eventual printing of the stencil I create here onto a canvas and attempt my first real actual paint on paper work of art.
So on one hand you get to see in this series me doing what I always do, but eventually it will become me trying and either failing or succeeding at something I've never really tried to achieve before.
So is it art? Gosh, I don't know, how should I know? Art, like beauty is in the eye of the beholder. There are people who look at Monet and yawn while others who would think a framed booger is the most beautiful thing they've ever seen... so call it what you want. I'll be fast asleep by the time you come up with a definition of whatever it is I'm trying to achieve here!
