Salvation means to be saved from the consequences of your sins. The bible says in Ephesians 2:8-9 King James Version (KJV) - "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."

Salvation is a gift offered to you by God, and the only thing you must do to accept is to put your faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. You cannot trust in your good works to get you salvation, you cannot think your sin keeps you from salvation, all of your faith must be in Jesus.
