Toutle River Valley, Washington, near Mount St. Helens

Along Washington State Highway 504, on the road to Mount St. Helens, we stopped at a pullout along the road, where we got a view of the lower Toutle River. In 1980, when the volcano erupted, the river valley was a sea of mud, rock, and downed trees.
