Do you know?
Women’s right, in #AFRICA, were long been in practice way before the westerns and Europeans.

In East Africa, SINQE is an ancient female led institution in the ancient democratic system of Oromo people known as GADA, which is led by Hadha Sinqe ( Mother of Sinqe). In this institution, females discuss what they can contribute for their people in general and the female society in particular the rights of women.

The GADA is an ancient democratic system that exist for thousands years. It’s an indigenous institution that pervades every aspect of an Indigenous African people’s life including personal, interpersonal, social, economic and political life. ... Therefore, to build peace culture the GADA concept of peace, truth, values, principles, and conflict resolution techniques need to be restored and promoted. In fact the system still exist and practiced by the Oromo people of #Ethiopia, the largest ethnic population of East Africa.

SINQE are not working only on women rights but they work beyond that for the community as a whole. For example if a son hits his father, the women will gather together and stand on behalf of the father. If there is a conflict in the society they will interfere and solve with there Sinqee or they will lead to the elders and Abba Gadas ( Father of Gadas)

Maybe #conflicts occurring right now in the country would have been solved if we had a strong indigenous systems.
