It is no secret that the greater multitudes of humanity are in bondage to every kind of addiction, as well as those who are Christians. The saved and the unsaved are in the same heavy, ruthless chains. Both are miserable because it is not just a physical bondage but also a spiritual one that is relentless. In the depth of their will they want nothing more to be free, but they are time and again led away in the slavery of it. The unsaved try to deal with it in the medical secular way and still never know the true inward deliverance from it. They basically live doing nothing more than routinely mowing their fields of weeds.

Many of them like Holly search for a spiritual way out. And out of desperation many find themselves entering through the doors of the occult in hopes to find deliverance. However, they only find a counterfeit form of peace and deliverance that is short lived and empty. They wind up in a darker bondage and added chains of confusion and added sorrows. The saved that are in bondage are crying out to God to deliver them, and still many find that they cannot stop drinking, smoking and whatever else that bondage is.

They live in constant shame and guilt, which are other chains. There are many kinds of bondages too numerous to list here. But really it is all the same thing and the same heavy chains. Holly shares with us how she was in heavy bondage to addictions, but reveals that after years of slavery, she finally cried out to God who heard her. It was not an overnight process. She explains how it was definitely a day by day process to freedom.

This is a very important discussion because many people say they have cried out to God to help them, and deliver them. Yet they go on like slaves bowing to the enemy who holds those chains. They hang their heads down, and drink and smoke and do the things they are bound in with grief. They give up asking Jesus to deliver them because it does not happen right away. But Jesus does not always do things right away, and the truth is, He will deliver.

Consider what A.W. Tozer says: "Whenever God begins something, we have the assurance that He will finish it. Nothing will stand in the way of Him accomplishing His purpose in this world and in our lives. What God starts, He finishes, and nobody can hinder Him. Sure, delays will happen. Just remember, God is in charge of the delays as well as the progress."

Amen, rest assured and have peace in your hearts, God WILL deliver you just as He delightfully delivered Holly. "He delivered me because He delighted in me." God delights in you and will deliver you just the same. You can rely on Him....Your Deliverer.
