Where Have All the Workers Gone?

Many industries and small businesses report they are still lacking about fifty percent of their pre-pandemic workforce. With today’s Americans for Limited Government Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. Oklahoma businesses were especially hard hit and to bring back workers the state is offering twelve-hundred dollar back-to-work incentives. Still, the National Federation of Independent Business' latest monthly jobs report shows 46% of small business owners across the country have positions they can't fill. A representative of the group thinks many are staying out of the work force to care for young children or older family members. Oklahoma is one of the states that back in May cut off the extra federal unemployment benefits. Hopefully, those people still on the sidelines will get back to work and our small businesses can being operating at full speed soon. This weird post-pandemic job market is just further proof of the damage state governments did with the heavy-handed lockdowns and why we hope they never come back!
