The role of the United Kingdom in the formal administration of the Kingdom of Iraq was ended in 1932, following the Anglo-Iraqi Treaty. The independent Hashemite Kingdom of Iraq (Arabic: المملكة العراقية الهاشمية‎) was a state located in the Middle East from 1932 to 1958.

"As-Salam al-Malaki" (Arabic: السلام الملكي‎, literally "The Royal Salute") was the official royal and national anthem of Iraq from 1924 to 1958. The music, in the “Arab fanfare” style of anthem, was composed by Lieutenant. A. Chaffon, director of music for the Iraq Army Band, while the kingdom was still under nominal British control.
