The fallout from former South African President Jacob Zuma’s 15-month jailing continues to boil over, as police in Johannesburg were seen firing rubber bullets at protesters.
According to reports, one protester has been killed and over 60 have been arrested in South Africa’s biggest city – after supporters of Zuma took to the streets following his jailing.
President Cyril Ramaphosa has called for calm, and urged activists to ‘express themselves within the law.’
Last month, Zuma handed himself in to police after the South African constitutional court charged him with contempt of court – after he failed to make an appearance at a corruption trial earlier in the year.
