Tammy Nichols is on a mission to teach YOU how to cook just like mama did! She enjoys being in the kitchen bringing you everyday dishes that her mama, granny and maw maw made. No fancy ingredients, just good old country girl cooking. Tammy grew up in Polk County (NW) Georgia in an area called Collard Valley. She now lives in Saint Marys, GA. with her husband who is retired from the GA. School System and has girls in college at Georgia Southern in Savannah, Georgia.
NOW FOR THIS DELICIOUS RECIPE:
HASHBROWN PORK CHOP BAKE
1-30 OZ. PACKAGE FROZEN HASHBROWNS
7 PORK CHOPS (DE-BONED)
½ CUP SOUR CREAM
2/3 CUP MILK
1-10.5 OZ. CAN CREAM OF CELERY (CAN USE CHICKEN OR MUSHROOM)
2 CUPS SHREDDED CHEESE (YOUR CHOICE OF TYPE)
½ TSP. SALT
½ TSP. BLACK PEPPER
CELERY SALT (CAN USE ANOTHER TYPE OF SALT)
MEDIUM ONION (CUT INTO THIN RINGS)
(SEASONING OF YOUR CHOICE ON CHOPS-MILD NOT BOLD FLAVORS)
13X9 BAKING DISH AND FOIL
In a medium bowl, combine the sour cream, milk, cream soup, salt, and black pepper. Whisk well and set aside. Put half of the hash-browns in the bottom of the baking dish. Put 1 cup of the shredded cheese on top of potatoes and sprinkle with celery salt. Top with half of the soup mixture. Place half of the onions on top. Place chops on top of this and sprinkle with seasoning of your choice. Place remaining onions on chops. Place remaining hash browns on top of the chops. Sprinkle with celery salt and add the rest of the soup mixture to top and spread out. Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Remove from oven. Remove foil and sprinkle with cheese. Place back in the oven for another hour at 350 degrees. (You can cover with foil and keep oven on warm (175 degrees) until ready to serve. The longer it stays in the oven the more tender the chops will be. Make sure your chops are done before consuming, times and temperatures for ½ “thick chops!
CROCK POT DIRECTIONS: LAYER AS ABOVE AND WITHOUT CHEESE ON TOP AND ADD 1 CUP MILK OR WATER TO CROCK. Make sure you use a crockpot liner or spray well with Pam or a cooking spray before putting food in crock pot. Top with cheese for the remaining hour of cooking. Enjoy! I would cook on low for 8 hours or on high for 4 hours minimum. Enjoy. Make sure your chops are done before consuming, times and temperatures for ½ “thick chops!
