The Yemen Arab Republic (YAR; Arabic: الجمهورية العربية اليمنية‎ al-Jumhūrīyah al-‘Arabīyah al-Yamanīyah), also known simply as North Yemen or Yemen (Sanaʽa), was a country from 1962 to 1990 in the northwestern part of what is now Yemen. Its capital was at Sanaʽa.

“Al Watani” (Peace to the Land) was national anthem of North Yemen from 1962.
Following North Yemen’s period as a monarchy, the nation adopted a new anthem on becoming a republic in 1962. The music was composed by a “group of Egyptian musicians”.
