Massdrop NITRO V VS Manly Wasp 12c27 Edge retention test

We all ( me included) get caught up in high carbide steels in the quest for edge retention.

Fact Is most high carbide steels are not made for knife blades... there high carbide content is counter productive to what a knife blade needs.

Fine grain structure, and fine , small volume carbides are what we want in a knife blade.. those attributes are what give knife edges great edge retention, edge stability, and great sharpenability.

Today we test my mantra of "blade geometry, edge geometry, heat treat, and edge finish are more important than composition when it comes to knife performance "

We take the Manly Wasp in 12c27, @ 60-61 HRC (supposedly lol) with a BTE thickness of 0.009 thousandths at a 30° inclusive bevel and see how those dimensions can make a "budget steel" perform.
