Question: Was the Father separated from the Son? Forsaken implies abandonment. The statement shows Jesus’ humanity and identification with us, the Body of Christ, who often feels like God has forsaken us in the midst of trials and sufferings. Christ and the Church, the community of believers, are one, and He can speak on her behalf even though He is without sin. The triumph of the psalm gives proof to this understanding.
