4th of July Parade at Startzville Texas 2021 - Southside of Canyon Lake

This short video was taken at the July 3rd 2021 4th of July parade held in Startzville, Texas, on the south side of Canyon Lake. The staging area has been organized by volunteer radio operators with the Hill Country REACT Team #4804 since the mid 90's. See https://HillCountryREACT.org for more details about their organization.

In 2020, the county judge forced the cancellation of the parade due to fears over the Covid-19 virus, but allowed the 2021 parade to go on. Participation was much lower this year, than in previous years, but fortunately the various Jeep Clubs came to the rescue with a couple hundred jeeps to bring up the back half of the parade. We didn't have time to stick a drone up in the air this year and the tree cover along the staging area would have made it difficult to get any entertaining video anyway. So we stuck our DJI Osmo Action camera on a tripod up at the exit from the staging area and just recorded all of the entries as they headed out onto the parade route itself.

We noticed during editing, that some entries were missing. They checked in with us at the entry point of the staging area, but somehow, or for some reason, they chose to drop out of the actual parade. We know of at least one entry who was having vehicle problems and had to drop out. Parades can be rough on vehicles due to the extended idling time and slow driving speeds.
