Thunderstorm July 7th 2021 Novi Michigan
Thunderstorms have left more than 128,000 people without power in Metro Detroit, toppled trees and downed power lines, and there's still a chance for another round of severe weather overnight and into Thursday, the National Weather Service said.

A severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect until 9 p.m. for Shiawassee, Genesee, Lapeer, St. Clair, Livingston, Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw, Wayne, Lenawee and Monroe counties.

Showers are likely Thursday as temperatures climb near 80, with new rainfall amounts between a quarter- and half-inch possible, the weather service said.

That followed a turbulent Wednesday as storm cells crossed southeast Michigan in the afternoon, bringing downpours and high winds.

A severe thunderstorm warning also was in effect until 6 p.m. for parts of Macomb County, including Center Line, Roseville, Clinton Township, Fraser, Utica, Eastpointe, Grosse Pointe Shores, Harper Woods and Grosse Pointe Woods.
