Julie Hartman, a 21-year-old college student, argues that the COVID lockdowns produced harmful effects for young people and that lockdowns only targeting the vulnerable would have been better for everyone. Further, she contends that most young people would hold onto the belief that their forced isolation was a good idea because it serves as a coping mechanism. "If you accept that the past year and a half of your life has gone to waste, that's a very tough pill to swallow, so...it is easier for people my age to tell themselves that [the lockdown was] worth it than to accept that...it wasn't."
