Famed writer Elizabeth Barrett Browning’s ghost is said to walk here at night, carrying a candle and wearing a white gown. Mrs. Browning was known for being extremely materialistic and it was rumored that she was so attached to her possessions that she stuck with them in death. People have claimed to see her silhouette peering out from the second story window at night.
