CHAPTER 027 - KARVAL

With Krolen buried and her little birdies on their way down river, Elze decides to head home. While on the road they encounter traders from Lost Mountain, and they trade some weapons for information on the location of the Karval station landing instead of heading back to the Keep. They find the entrance, and head into the tunnels.

Ailea catches up to the Keep army too late, and she takes a horse back to the Keep to catch Keen and her grandchildren. The ride is an intense one through the dark to Fountain where she meets again with Wenssa the wunderkind. The girl negotiates an improved trade deal for information on the missing children, and Ailea streaks northwards to their rescue.

The harrying force, now behind Elze and her army, follow them down the tunnels towards Orleans. One the second night, two Keep 'scouts' sneak back to the Shreveport landing where Rine captures a pair of Herder brothers who were just curious to see outside of the landing. The army leaves without them, and the plans are laid for how to confront them from behind before Elze can weave her web in Orleans.
