FOLLOWING FALSE TEACHERS / Pastor Bob's Coffee Break

Dear Pastor Bob: If the Holy Spirit guides us in all truth, why are there believers who listen to false teachers or false prophets?  Since the Holy Spirit lives inside of us, it seems that we would be spared from false teachers since they are not speaking truth.  Why would the Holy Spirit allow a true believer to struggle with this stuff? And what should we do if we have Christian friends who follow the ministries of false teachers?

But when He, the Spirit of Truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth [full and complete truth]. For He will not speak on His own initiative, but He will speak whatever He hears [from the Father—the message regarding the Son], and He will disclose to you what is to come [in the future].
