Lopez, the Founder/President of Lopez Liberty LLC, & former #CIA Clandestine Operations Officer, discussed #Iran & the #ME: Iran regime 'selections', new President Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi, #Raisi; emboldened Tehran launching rocket/missile attacks by its proxies vs US troops & bases in #Iraq & #Syria; #Biden admin retaliated w/strikes vs the bases of those proxy militias on both sides of the border, but nowhere near serious enough to get #Tehran's attention - far cry from #Trump admin clamping severe #sanctions vs Iran & taking out #QodsForce commander #QasemSoleimani

On the #JCPOA/Iran nuke deal, negotiators are on "pause" right now, having left #Vienna & gone home for an undetermined time - Iranian regime holding fast to demand complete removal of all sanctions ever levied vs Iran since the beginning of time; Biden admin so far not agreeing to do that; but, even if/when talks resume, problems will be that Iranian regime has violated so many of key JCPOA provisions - #centrifuges, enriched uranium, etc. - and that's just the overt program! - never mind the #clandestine program, which even the #IAEA is beginning to talk about w/re: off-limits sites for inspection, evidence of past nuclear weapons work (enriched uranium particles). etc.

#China has always aligned w/Iran & supported its nuclear weapons ambitions - new Beijing-Tehran deal will give each what it needs most - China needs oil - and will get it, now that sanctions are not being enforced as under Trump - and Iran needs funding - not for the people of Iran, no, but for its #WMD programs (yes, plural), ballistic missiles & Islamic terror proxies.

A final note on the expansion of China's Belt & Road Initiative (#BRI, or #B&R) all the way westward to the Persian Gulf - yes, puts Iran somewhat under its thumb, but the Iranian regime is desperate for $$ & values China's backing in #UNSC, #SCO, etc., so accepts that.
