49
In this second part, you will get to learn the difference between a phone and a phoneme, and to interpret the basics of the International Phonetic Alphabet. This, and some comparisons between languages, will help you understand WHY learning certain sounds can be crucial for understanding and speaking better, as well as for being understood. Don’t just imitate sounds, but rather, understand the reason why this can make your life much easier in the long run! And if you study Linguistics, this can be a simple introduction for you to get acquainted with the API, and the basics of Phonology, a fascinating sub-discipline in this field!
