The parrot, also known as the laurel, blond, ajeru, ajuru, jeru, juru, or nore (from Malay nori), is one of the many birds belonging to the order Psitaciformes, family Psittacidae, mainly of the genus Amazon. They can live up to 80 years in captivity and, as a general rule, form a couple for life. Parrots have, as characteristics, a curved beak and feathers of various colors, which vary greatly between different species. Some parrots are able to imitate sounds and even human speech. They are, along with crows, among the most intelligent bird species. The Psittacidae family also includes the macaws, parakeets, maracanãs, jandaias and apuins. Its illegal trade is one of the main factors threatening its existence. Measures from 35 to 37 cm. long and weighs about 400 grams. It is distinguished by a yellow head, with a blue-green on the forehead and cheek, dark nostrils, red shoulders outlined in yellow, a wing with a red part and dark blue extremes. Rest of body usually green, lighter between the belly and the feathers. His voice is quite typical: He is known to be a good “talker”. Currently, many species have gone extinct or are at risk of extinction because of illegal trade.
