Handmade Wooden Toy Car Itty Bitty Caddy Mini Play Pal Size Pocket Car

I make this small wooden toy car in my garage shop. The original design did not have wheels and was smaller and was designed for use as a Christmas ornament. I modified the design so I could add 3/4-inch diameter wheels. This one is intended to be a small toy, but it could easily be made into an ornament by adding a small screw eye and a hanger. The original design for this car did not have wheels. I modified the design, increased the size to the Play Pal cars' length, and added 3/4-inch wheels. These toys are lighter and roll better than the Play Pal series.

The line on the body is made by cutting the toy into two pieces, rounding the edges of the cut, and gluing the two pieces back together.

The wheels are finished with amber shellac. The axle ends (hubs) are painted with metallic blue acrylic paint. All of the finishing is done before assembly.
