Rebel TV49 The Mind of a Slave
It is one of the great philosophical questions of all ages. Why do men suffer? Why is life so unfair and brutal? Why have the great majority of men and women throughout history lived in grinding poverty and under oppression, one generation after another suffering and dying, never even taking that first step to realize their potential as human beings? Certainly some resent their station in life but too many accept it willingly, consider suffering a virtue and embrace a worldview that sees their life as inconsequential. They are merely disposable cogs in someone else's machine. It is the mind of a slave.
For most of history the world, in most places, humanity was divided into two groups. There was the king, the pharaoh, the tsar and their small circle and then there were the peasants, the serfs, the slaves who gave their lives and labor to the first group so they could lives lives of luxury and build great monuments to satiate their egos. Even today we accept this worldview as normal. Rulers and ruled, the ruled providing for the rulers enormous portions of their labor and lives, ruler squandering it on their gilded lives. Why?! Deep down we all have a sense of justice, of morality, a sense of right and wrong. We know that if we produce something with our hands it belongs to us and for someone to demand it from us for no reason other than they want it is stealing.
Think of the first time this happened in the murky past. A group of hunter gatherers hunted and gathered, each to meet his or her own needs and the needs of their families. One day someone stands up and says “Each of you will give me a portion of what you hunt or gather while I sit comfortably in my tent and enjoy the fruits of your labor.” Why would anyone agree to that? Two reasons. One, he may be the biggest, baddest man in the tribe and you would agree because of fear. The other option is he or she convinces the tribe that placing them in such a position confers some future benefit. These two options that have come down to us today. The first is simple, every thug and dictator throughout history understood the value of imparting fear to get the people to fork over their wealth and lives. We suffer it still today even in the United States. Is the IRS not the most feared agency in the country?
But let's concentrate on the second because conditioning a population to slavery is much more effective for the tyrant. The ruler needs only convince the people that serving him or her confers some benefit. Perhaps they are a sorcerer who will guarantee the rains will come at the proper time. Or he is a strong man who will protect them from outside forces. Or, in the greatest con of all, the ruler convinces the people that their servitude and the suffering that goes with it is a virtue, that it is not only good for them personally but it is good for the group as a whole. We see all three at work today.
The sorcerers of today are the academic wizards and brainless politicians who tell us that if we just turn the reins of our economy over to them they can guarantee prosperity; a car in every driveway and a chicken in every pot. The central planners and the central bankers do their best to convince us that if we just support them with our wealth and defer our freedom to choose to them, allowing them the time to think all this through, they will use our wealth and direct our choices in a way that will bring happiness and wealth to everyone. And the excuse for their constant failure is that they do not have enough money and control. The road to totalitarianism is paved with relinquished economic choices.
The second is the security state, the strong man protecting us from a dangerous world. He must peddle in fear, there must always be an enemy about to storm the gates or one threatening the group from within. This gives rise to the police state and huge standing armies. Terrorists without and within demand that we sacrifice our freedom for our security. Our ability to travel, to be secure in our persons and papers, to have a life outside the state, none of that can have a higher priority that the safety and security provided by the state. The road to totalitarianism is paved with cries of safety.
Finally, there are the rulers convincing the people there is virtue in sacrificing for the state. This can take many forms. The false patriotism that led so many to become cannon fodder for the ambitions of kings. Pride in the wealth of a court compared to other nations. The lie you are giving to something greater than yourself when the truth is that all that is deposited in the state's coffers is used to benefit the ruler and his circle of enablers. But there is something even more insidious and here Marx was right. He famously said that religion was the opiate of the people. Just think about it. If you can convince people not only to focus their attention away from their suffering for a future benefit like heaven but to embrace their suffering as a virtue, you can demand anything of them. On top of that, convince them that the state, regardless of how instituted or organized, is the very arm of God on earth and then any complaints, much less rebellion, are derided as sinful. This was the western world after Christianity wedded itself to the state in the time of Constantine.
What is basic Christian doctrine in this regard? Suffering is good, heaven is the reward for suffering and this world will remain sinful and evil until some time in the distant future so you might as well accept it. What motivation is there to improve one's lot under such a worldview? Now we are no longer in the dark ages but a new religion is being preached by the ruling class to the same effect. This is the religion of climate change. It has all the same elements. Sacrifice now, suffer now, for some future benefit when the planet will be saved or healed. Such sacrifice is the height of virtue. It is our moral duty to put aside our liberty and prosperity and become subservient to a state that ensures our salvation.
Of course the sacrifices they demand of us never touch the beneficiaries of this fraud. That is how you know it is all a fraud. It is always “The rules are for thee and not for me.” While we are confined to our homes with diapers on our faces, they are out eating at fancy restaurants or getting their hair styled with beaming, uncovered smiles. While they demand you ride a bicycle to cut your carbon footprint, they fly around on private jets. While they demand more and more of your money, they are buying mansions and limousines. We all know it is hypocritical but because of their position at the top, they feel entitled to it; they feel no guilt in enjoying the fruits of their con.
As human beings we have the right to freedom, choices and the fruits of our labor. We have the right to our dreams and aspirations, we have the right to seek our full potential. It is what being human is all about. This applies to every individual equally. The fruits of our minds and labor belong to us to dispose of as we see fit. No one has the right to demand our labor or minds for their own benefit. Who are they to do so? Who are they to demand we become less so they can rise above us? Those at the top are no better than we are, they are our overlords only because they are the best liars and cons. They have no right to make us less or treat us as slaves. Why are Biden and Pelosi and Schumer and Kerry immune from suffering while inflicting it upon us? They preach our need to suffer but never allow any discomfort to touch them. They demand that we put off our dreams and goals while they live high on the hog. Why do we have to be less so they can be more? There is no moral reason the world needs to be organized in this fashion, there is no inherent reason for a few to live at the expense of the many. The few are not morally superior, they certainly are not more intelligent. Have you listened to King Joe and his minions? The only reason it is so is because the many either lack the courage to reject the claims of the few upon them or they have deluded themselves into accepting the lies. This injustice visits itself upon us because we allow it. It will only end when we choose to end it.
