Wild Police Chase of Aggravated Assault Suspect, Sparks Fly...

On June 13th, 2021, Atlanta Police responded to a call of a person shot at 1069 Oglethorpe Ave. SW. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim who advised that she was traveling eastbound on Oglethorpe Ave. when she noticed a vehicle belonging to her ex-boyfriend (David Henderson) driving towards her. The victim advised that she attempted to drive past Mr. Henderson and at that time, he fired into her vehicle before he fled the scene. The victim was struck by gunfire in the shoulder and grazed in the head. She was transported to a local hospital in stable condition. While investigating the incident, police learned that this was the second time Mr. Henderson has made an attempt on the victim’s life. The first being on May 14th, 2021 when he fired a handgun at her in front of her home (the victim was uninjured on that occasion).

Aggravated Assault Investigators took lead on the incident and immediately obtained warrants for Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony for Mr. Henderson. On June 17th, 2021, Atlanta Police received information that Mr. Henderson was in SW Atlanta. Officers responded to the area and observed Mr. Henderson driving along Campbellton Rd. A traffic stop was attempted, but Mr. Henderson refused to stop. Officers deployed stop sticks to disable the suspect vehicle and began the pursuit of Mr. Henderson with the assistance of Phoenix. The suspect eventually came to a stop in East Point, where he was taken into custody without further incident. - Atlanta Police Department
